- At an informational meeting in Narragansett, R.I., hosted by the U.S. Bureau of Energy Management, members of the public learned more about the leases proposed for wind projects in federal waters off Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
- Following the Maine Law Court’s decision requiring that the PUC investigate the health and safety of smart meters, the PUC voted to begin its investigation. The PUC’s closer look at smart meters is expected to be followed by industry officials and citizens across the country.
- Ocean Renewable Power Co.’s tidal turbine power generator is in the process of being launched in eastern Maine and will start generating power by September 1. In an interview with WBUR, ORPC president and CEO Chris Sauer stated that he hopes that the tidal generator will become the Kitty Hawk of ocean power.
